FWE Combustion

Influence of FWE on Flame- and Temperature distribution on HFO-combustion in a 2 stroke research engine

The effect of applying Water-fuel emulsion as combustion improvement can be seen above. Indicated is the flame and temperature distribution inside the combustion chamber of an experimental 2-stroke engine with glass cylinder.

It is quite evident, that temperature distribution during combustion is substantially homogeniseddue to improved mixture formation, reducing peak gas temperature. Flame front temperatures are further reduced as a result of higher cylinder gas heat capacity and evaporation energy of the injected water.
