FMC is involved in to a broad range of research and development activities for own purposes and as customer projects, all dedicated to improvement of environmental impact of diesel engines.

Besides development of

• the FMC Two Stage Fuel Injection System
• the Aqua-Fuel^® Fuel Water Emulsion System, formerly known as HDC-System
• and renewable fuels (PME, plant-oils)

FMC is working on a  integrated engine concept for reduced exhaust gas emissions of medium speed diesel engines, having IMO Tier III emission regulation in mind, combining the advantages of

• high mechanical efficiency of a long stroke medium speed engine
• extreme Miller Cycle
• Two stage Turbocharging
• Two Stage Injection System
• and Fuel-Water Emulsion

into an integrated concept to with IMO Tier III emission limits.

The result of this joint project with the University of applied sciences Flensburg will be presented at the Cimac Conference 2013 in Shanghai.
